Supermodel Kate Moss, a former girlfriend of Johnny Depp, said Wednesday that she was never pushed or assaulted by Depp during the course of their relationship.
Moss testified as a rebuttal witness in Depp’s defamation suit against ex-wife Amber Heard.
Heard, in his testimony, made a passing reference to Moss and a rumor that Depp had pushed Moss down some stairs when they left. Heard referred to Moss when he described a fight in which he admitted to hitting Depp on a ladder because he said Depp was charging against Heard’s sister, Whitney.
Moss, in the testimony provided by a video link, said Depp never assaulted her. He said he once slid down a flight of stairs after a rainstorm in a Jamaican resort and that Depp came to his aid.
She testified for less than five minutes and was not questioned.
Depp is suing Heard for defamation at the Fairfax County Circuit Court in Virginia for an opinion piece he wrote in December 2018 in the Washington Post describing himself as “a public figure representing abuse domestic “. Depp’s lawyers say he was defamed by the article even though he never mentioned his name.
Depp has denied ever hitting Heard and says she was the aggressor in the relationship. Heard has testified about more than a dozen separate cases of physical abuse he claims to have suffered at the hands of Depp.
The trial is set to begin on Wednesday.
