Keke Palmer is shooting.
After the release of her new film No, a tweet started circulating claiming that there is a huge popularity gap between the 28-year-old actress and Zendaya, saying that she is “one of the clearest examples of how colorism is played in Hollywood.”
The Twitter thread also noted that Keke and Zendaya, 25, are former child stars, but that some people consider Nope to be Keke’s breakout role.
After catching wind of this conversation, Keke took to social media to respond and defend herself and her career.

“Great example of colorism is believing I can compare to anyone,” Keke tweeted on Sunday (July 24). “I’m the youngest talk show host ever. The first black woman to star in her own show on Nickelodeon, and the youngest and first black Cinderella on Broadway. I’m an incomparable talent. Baby, THIS is Keke Palmer.
She continued, “I’ve been a leading lady since I was 11. I have over 100 credits and currently star in an original script that is the number 1 film at the box office #NOPE. I’ve had a blessed career so far, I couldn’t ask for more more, but God continues to surprise me.”
No, it’s obviously not Keke’s first major role. He starred in the lead role in True Jackson, Nickelodeon’s VP and had starring roles in films such as Akeelah and the Bee, Hustlers and Pixar’s Lightyear. She also had one of the lead roles in the Fox series Scream Queens.
Keke was also one of the co-hosts of ABC’s third-hour Good Morning America show, Strahan, Sara & Keke. He has also won an Emmy Award and five NAACP Image Awards.
It wasn’t the #1 film at the box office this weekend, with an estimated $44 million.
