Kelowna City property owners can expect to receive their 2022 tax notices in their mailbox sometime this week.

These invoices have already been mailed.

Property owners registered with a city property account have had access to their notice since early last week.

People applying for a homeownership grant must do so across the province. Click here for homeowner grant information or call 1-888-355-2700, Option 3.

Real estate tax payments must be physically received by the city council or processed electronically by third-party financial institutions by Monday, July 4th.

We remind you that banks and credit card companies can take up to three business days to process payments.

Late payments are subject to a 10% penalty.

Taxpayers can make the payment in various ways to avoid possible alignments with the city council.

This includes:

  • Check through the mailbox located at the front doors of the town hall.
  • By sending checks to the town hall (postdated checks are accepted, however, the date of the stamp is not considered the date of payment)
  • Banking online or by phone with a financial institution (a reminder that third-party processing can take up to three business days)
  • In person at your financial institution if it is open
  • Third party credit card payment companies.

The municipal share of the tax bill, which rose 3.94 percent from last year, is just one part of the overall tax bill.

The city is also raising money on behalf of the regional district, Okanagan Library, BC Assessment and the province.

Other municipalities in the area, such as the city of West Kelowna and Lake Country, also mail tax notices.
