The Kelowna RCMP has released more information about its search for a missing person who went missing on Tuesday and is believed to have been dragged to Mission Creek.
“Kelowna RCMP received a report from a missing woman, Chelsea Cardno, 31, who was last seen leaving her residence on Dougall Road South in Kelowna at 8:00 a.m. “As soon as he left his residence, he was walking with his German Shepherd ‘JJ’ near Mission Greenway,” said Const. Mike Della-Paolera.
Officers searched the area around Mission Greenway and located the white Cardno BMW parked at the north end of Pasadena Road.
Central Okanagan search and rescue volunteers and police conducted ground, water and air searches throughout the afternoon and through Tuesday evening.
COSAR has completed the research at 9.30 pm and will resume its research today.
Cardno is described as four feet 11 and 108 pounds with brown hair and blond highlights. She was last seen wearing a blue or gray cap, a bright red inflated jacket, tracksuit pants and black lace-up army boots.
“By the time Chelsea disappeared, Mission Creek’s water level was high and moving fast,” Della-Paolera said.
“While searching the area, COSAR rescued overturned kayakers at the mouth of Mission Creek. Given the state of local emergency, the Kelowna RCMP is urging citizens to stay away from Mission Creek.
The Kelowna RCMP wants to hear from anyone who was in the Mission Greenway and Mission Creek area yesterday and saw Chelsea Cardno or her dog “JJ”.

The search for a missing person believed to have fallen on Mission Creek, near Pasadena Rd. remains suspended Wednesday morning.
COSAR manager Duane Tresnich says Castanet, RCMP and COSAR searched from Pasadena Rd. all the way to Gallagher’s Canyon until they suspended the operation at 9:30 p.m., Tuesday evening.
Tresnich says the operation has been suspended until they meet with the RCMP this morning.
“The RCMP is continuing its investigation and we will meet later this morning, until then we are in a pattern of retention.”
COSAR launched its rescue boat last night, as all avenues in search of the missing person were exhausted.
Tresnich says river flow levels have dropped significantly overnight, “while we were searching we were able to see trees uprooted and swept away.”
The Kelowna RCMP told Castanet that it had received a report of a possible missing person in the Mission Creek area on Tuesday afternoon.
“As a precaution, COSAR and RCMP Air Services were activated and helped search the area,” RCMP spokesman Cpl said. Tammy Lobb.
