On June 14, Game Hearts director Tetsuya Nomura sat down with GameInformer to discuss the future of the series. Specifically, Nomura addressed some concerns that fans had about Disney being less focused on the series in the future. Nomura assured players that there will be some Disney worlds present in “Kingdom Hearts 4″ and added: ” [players] You don’t have to worry so much about this aspect of the game. “Nomura clarified that”[‘Kingdom Hearts 4’] it might look slightly different from previous “Kingdom Hearts” titles.
When asked to explain, Nomura said, “There’s so much more we can do in terms of graphics, it kind of limits the number of worlds we can create.” He also added that the development team is still figuring out how to address this issue. This makes sense, as modernizing the game’s graphics means that some Disney worlds will have to lag behind. For example, 2D characters from plays like “Hercules” would look out of place in the urban setting shown in the trailer. These changes could be just the beginning of “Kingdom Hearts” which gradually removes Disney cartoon content in exchange for better visuals. While these changes seem like a solid way to keep the game modern, this news may disappoint many fans. Given that “Kingdom Hearts 3” took more than five years to develop (via dbltap), it’s likely that players won’t see “Kingdom Hearts 4” for some time.
