Kyrgios is currently in England after qualifying for the Wimbledon quarter-finals.
“It’s in the context of a domestic relationship,” attorney Jason Moffett told The Canberra Times.
“The nature of the charge is serious and Mr Kyrgios takes the charge very seriously.
“Given that the matter is before the court … it has no comment at this stage, but in due course we will issue a press release.”
Kyrgios was approached by reporters after training at Wimbledon on Tuesday.

“We have been informed of legal proceedings involving Nick Kyrgios in Australia and as they are ongoing we are not in a position to offer any comment,” the statement said. “We are in contact with Nick’s team and he plans to play his quarter-final match tomorrow.”
