Launched globally in April this year, the Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica will be launched in India on August 25. The Huracan Tecnica sits between the standard Huracan Evo and the track-focused STO version, both of which are already on sale in the Indian market.
The Huracan Tecnica arrives in India just five months after its global unveiling, a remarkable feat for a high-end supercar. In fact, Lamborghini confirms that customer orders have already arrived.
The automaker has been very successful of late in India, having recently delivered the 200th unit of the Urus. Sharad Agarwal, head of Lamborghini India, says, “Urus has been driving sales of the company’s super sports cars, which could explain the prompt interest in the Tecnica.”
The mechanical underpinnings are the same as the STO: a 640bhp naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 engine that sends power to the rear wheels only via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. However, it omits the wild aero package and weight-saving regime of the tougher STO.
Instead, the Huracan Tecnica is inspired by the design of the Sian hybrid hypercar, which in turn is based on the Aventador. The front and rear fascias have angular bodywork similar to that of the Sian; there’s a more prominent diffuser at the rear compared to the Evo, and it also features a fixed rear spoiler.
It has carbon ceramic rear wheel steering and brakes as standard, with a carbon fiber hood. In terms of overall performance, it goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, 200 km/h in 9.1 seconds and has a top speed of 325 km/h.
As a direct rival to the Porsche 911 GT3, Lamborghini says driver involvement is the most important element in the Tecnica’s character, with truly approachable no-holds-barred handling being the priority.
In terms of price, the Huracan Tecnica will be positioned below the Huracan STO which was launched in India at Rs 4.99 crore (ex-showroom) earlier this year.
