The Law & Order: An Organized Crime crew member killed during filming Tuesday was a Queens resident named Johnny Pizarro, the New York Times reports.
Pizarro, a 31-year-old parking worker with the show, died while sitting in a car in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn around 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 19th. According to the New York Police Department, officers responded to a call and found that the man was unconscious and had received multiple shots to the head and neck. He was transferred to NYC Health + Hospital / Woohull, where he was pronounced dead.
New York City police, who released the victim’s name after his family was notified, are investigating the crime. Police added that a man in a black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants was seen running from the area where the shooting took place. According to reports, the man was short and thin. There have been no arrests.
“We were very saddened and surprised to learn that one of our crew members was the victim of a crime this morning and has died as a result,” an NBC and Universal Television representative told our sister site Deadline. “We are working with local law enforcement while they continue to investigate. Our heart is with your family and friends and we ask that you respect their privacy during this time.”
