Lisa Wilkinson has flown to the United States, taking a break from her usual chores at The Project counter.
So who will keep the seat warm?
In the absence of the host, Study 10Sarah Harris, Flash presenter Georgie Tunny and Sydney radio presenter Rachel Corbett are expected to fill up again. The Australian’s Media Diary reported.
Wilkinson has not appeared as a presenter on the Network Ten news program since mid-June following the aftermath of her speech at the Logies.
It has been reported that she would probably not reappear as co-host of the show until the end of August.
Following the news that Wilkinson had left Australia for the United States, the co-presenter shared a photo of herself on Instagram in front of the famous Hotel California in Palm Springs.
“Lots of room in the California hotel! I’m here in the US for some very special interviews on @theprojecttv. I can’t wait to share more …” she wrote, wearing three love heart emojis Monday night.
It was reported that the trip had been booked prior to his Logies speech.
Wilkinson has not been entirely absent from television screens since the fury of the speech.
In early July, he appeared on rival network Nine as part of a program celebrating the Today’s show40 years ago in the air.
“A big chunk of my heart with which I always stay right there with the Today’s show family and every year we spent breakfast together, “the media personality said in a pre-recorded statement.
Wilkinson also appeared The project in a pre-packaged interview with Michael Klim last week.
He made the surprise announcement in October 2017 that he was leaving Nine’s Today’s show after 10 years and had taken a job with The project.
Network Ten content director Beverley McGarvey said at the time that Wilkinson was one of Australia’s most respected journalists and TV presenters and that the channel was delighted to have agreed to join.
In his autobiography It was not meant to be that waypublished in November last year, Wilkinson revealed the details surrounding his dramatic departure Today in 2017.
He claimed that towards the end of his decade as a co-host, Karl Stefanovic reached a new deal that meant he would earn $ 2 million, more than double what he earned on the net.
Wilkinson wrote that the wage gap was “so off the charts that no one would have believed it, and much larger than that figure which had been conveniently leaked.”
And she confessed that it was such an important issue that she was no longer ready to shut up and “keep men’s secrets.”
