Here are the details of the official Platinum Jubilee celebrations taking place today.

Trooping the Color parade: 10am

The Queen will receive a greeting from the balcony of Buckingham Palace for Trooping the Color this year. More than 1,400 soldiers marching, 200 horses and 400 musicians will gather at the traditional parade to commemorate the queen’s official birthday. They will go down the mall to the Horse Guard parade, accompanied by members of the royal family on horseback and in carriages.

RAF steering wheel: from 11.45 am to 1.15 pm

The event will end with an RAF flight, watched by members of the royal family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

Beacons lit: 9:25 p.m.

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that the UK’s long tradition of celebrating royal anniversaries, weddings and coronations with the lighting of beacons will also take place today.

After Trooping the Color, the Queen will return to Windsor for a nightly ceremony during which she will symbolically light the Jubilee’s main lighthouse, as part of a double ceremony with her grandson, the Duke of Cambridge.

Beacons will also be lit in each of the Commonwealth capitals for the first time.
