George Eustice, the Secretary of the Environment, is in the Government Media Round this morning.
He said he did not believe “anything new would emerge” from Sue Gray’s report, arguing that much of the details about the partygate scandal were already in the public domain.
He told Times Radio: “Of course I will look at the report as everyone else does because it is important that we understand what is being published, but it is also the case that the Prime Minister has given a fairly complete explanation of his understanding of ‘these events.
“The police have investigated all these facts, issued a fixed sanction notice to the Prime Minister regarding one of those events he attended, paid for this sanction, apologized, acknowledged how people would feel and how it will feel. angry that they will feel for these events and has contacted the public about it.
“I’m not sure if anything new will come out of this report, other than more details, but of course we’ll look into it.”
