Live updates: Birmingham Road closed after reports of a shooting and a car hit

It has been revealed that a road in Birmingham has been cut off by police following reports of gunfire and that one person was hit by a car. Witton Road, Aston, was placed behind a cordon shortly after 6:30 a.m. today (Tuesday, June 7) following the morning drama.

Buses, including National Express service number 7, have been diverted as operations continue.

An Inrix spokesman said: “Witton Road in both directions was closed due to a Broadway police incident on Trinity Road. Detour: affects NX Bus Route 7.”

A West Midlands police spokesman said: “We are investigating after shots were fired on Witton Road, Aston, around 6.30pm yesterday (June 6). We received several reports of shootings and that one person was hit by a car.When officers arrived, there were no casualties at the scene.

“We are looking to identify anyone who may have been injured to ensure she is safe. Detectives are reviewing CCTV and conducting other investigations.”
