Thousands of customers have been unable to conduct online banking today, as several banks are affected by a problem with faster payments, and some are unable to pay their bills.

Customers of 10 banks included BarclaysHalifax, Lloyds, Nationwide and Monzo report that they cannot make payments this morning.
Thousands of customers have reported problems at various banks on the DownDetector outage website.
Affected banks are Barclays, Bank of Scotland, Halifax, Lloyds, HSBCSantander, Nationwide, NatWest, Monzo and Yorkshire Bank.
Bank customers report problems with funds transfer, online banking, and mobile banking applications.
Some households have been unable to buy food or pay bills as a result of the problem.
Bank users have started registering problems around 6 this morning.

The British used social media to report problems with their online banking.
A Barclays customer said, “Hi, I transferred money to my husband’s Barclays account to pay bills and also paid my credit card bill, but neither appears in my account.”

A NatWest customer said, “Are there any issues with the app? I transferred money at 7am to buy food and it still hasn’t reached my account.”
A Santander spokesman said: “We are aware that our customers are currently having trouble making and receiving faster payments.
“We are very sorry for the inconvenience this is causing and we are working hard to resolve the issue. Other payment services are not affected.”
