The U.S. Supreme Court decision to overturn the Roe v. Wade ruling resonates on this side of the border, leaving many wondering what life would be like for a woman who has no legal access to an abortion.
For the Alyse Stuart of St. John’s, is to know that without legal and timely access, he would surely have died.
Stuart suffered an ectopic pregnancy, a life-threatening condition in which the fertilized egg begins to develop outside the uterus, usually in the fallopian tube.
He says access to abortion services refers to both fertility care and reproductive rights.
Stuart says Canadians often like to think they are insolent about what is happening in the US
But he says the truth is that not all Canadians have the same access to abortion services.
He says people in rural areas, and who have limited resources, do not have the same access as someone from St. Louis. John’s or Toronto.
