As part of its presentation of macOS 13 Ventura at WWDC 2022, Apple today announced Continuity Camera, which offers Mac owners the opportunity to use their iPhone as a webcam.
A Mac with acmacOS 13 can automatically recognize and use an Iphone’s camera when it’s nearby, without having to wake it up or select it, and the PIphone can also connect to the Mac wirelessly.
The Continuity Camera includes FaceTime features such as Center Stage, Portrait mode, and a new studio light effect that illuminates the user’s face while dimming the background.
In addition, the Continuity Camera uses an Ultra iPhone’s Wide Camera to enable Desk View, which simultaneously shows the user’s face and a top view of their desktop, which is useful for creating DIY videos, showing sketches in AceFaceTime and more.
Continuity camera is available on the iPhone XR or later. Using the wireless continuity camera requires a Mac and an iPhone or iPad with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled, and both devices must sign in with the same Apple ID with two-factor authentication.
The Continuity Camera with Center Stage and Desk View is available on iPhone 11 or later with iOS 16. Studio Light is available on iPhone 12 or later with iOS 16.
