On Monday morning, a new moon in Gemini offers a new beginning. But don’t expect a different path to present you as the “right choice” or a vision of the future that shines brighter than the rest. Rather, this new beginning is about a proliferation of possibilities. You don’t have to choose between them yet: just let them all bloom. Then, on Friday morning, retrograde Mercury finally ends, and some of the stress and confusion of the last three weeks slowly fades away. If this period has led you to reflect, to think about changing your job, your relationships, your life, that work can really begin. Finally, Saturday evening begins retrograde Saturn. Over the next four and a half months, you may face challenging lessons and difficult truths. But as hard as it may feel to retrograde Saturn, it’s also fair. So if you’ve been working hard, either at work or yourself, you can expect your work to pay off.
Some people build precious lives through thoughtful planning and careful consideration of their choices. You, on the other hand, prefer to leave room for magic, for surprise. You are happy to trust in destiny, in the unpredictability of the universe, and in your own impulsive willpower. But lately, you’ve been wondering if any of your bold and courageous actions have meant much to you. But this is not true. Even if they did not give the results you expected, they were a useful practice, necessary steps in the right direction. This week, you’ll see: none of your efforts have been wasted.
More than most, it responds to the needs of your body: eat well, give yourself moments of rest, comfort. But sometimes you forget that you need mental nutrition along with physical nutrition. Your inner life — your intellectual vitality, your curiosity, your sheer sense of wonder about how much there is to learn — must also be cultivated. It’s easy to forget to take care of that part of yourself, but this week it’s crucial that you try. You will be amazed at how satisfying it is to read, dream, ask questions. Your whole world will become brighter, more alive.
It’s a gift to be as curious and cunning as you are. Understand the complexity and the abstraction, you can have competing ideas in your head at the same time and accept the ambiguity without abandoning your search for the truth. The only problem is that you have a habit of getting lost in abstractions, of thinking so much that you forget that you have a body, a heart, too. This week, let your mind be loved and go. Let him do what he knows best. Just remember that you can also enjoy physical pleasures.
It is worth maintaining the sense of perspective. You are aware that your own pains are not the greatest in the universe, your own lovelessness is no more painful than what others have experienced. But that doesn’t make them insignificant. This week, allow yourself the time and space you need to heal yourself, to mourn what you have lost. It’s painful to be a person in this life, and just because others are suffering, that doesn’t mean yours matters less. The answer right now is not to suppress your own emotions, but to acknowledge that we all have our own pain and help each other to endure it.
As frustrating as it may be, this week you won’t be able to solve any major issues on your own. You will probably not be the hero, nor will you experience moments of individual genius. Instead, you will get something better: the opportunity to think and discover in collaboration with others, to change them and, in turn, to be changed. The loneliness that has affected you will disappear, not because of a great courageous action, but through the ordinary, everyday experience of connecting with people. Your world and your imagination will expand once again. Those you love will activate parts of you that you would never have discovered on your own.
Recently, you have been worried that your gifts will be wasted, that your wisdom, your skills, your courage will be devoured by the long hours you spend at work paying the bills. Sure, there’s nothing wrong with doing what it takes to stay afloat, but you know in your heart that you have more ideas, more love, more energy to offer. This week, try to keep your faith as high as possible. The opportunities to live the kind of life you have dreamed of are approaching and you should be prepared to say yes.
From where you stand, you have been struggling to see how our world could be truly repaired: the forces of violence are too powerful, the injustice is too deep. But even if you have thought and struggled and found no satisfactory answers, no compelling reason for optimism, you must continue anyway. So this week, your task is to find something that makes it more bearable to move forward. Maybe it’s art, maybe friendship, maybe just the stubborn emotion of refusing to back down. Finally, you will see that not everything is lost, for the simple reason that you are still here, you are still going, you have not yet won.
Honesty matters a lot to you, even (perhaps especially) in situations where most people would prefer a comforting lie. For you, false hope is worse than nothing. And so it’s easy to lose sight of the fact that you need and deserve a little lightness from time to time. This week, accept every opportunity to make your friends laugh, to go out and feel the sun on your skin, to simply delight in the beauty of the world. There’s a lot of time for seriousness and hard work, but every now and then you need a little fun to strengthen yourself, to strengthen your heart.
Your life makes sense, of course, but it doesn’t always seem that way. You’re worried that you’re missing out on a bigger purpose, wasting your precious time here on earth. This week, however, pay attention and you will notice the magic, and the importance, of the daily life of your life. All the little experiences you have, all the little moments of connecting with others, add up to something beautiful and valuable. You don’t have to dive into a big drama or embark on a worldwide search. There is a meaning to finding it right here, where you are. It’s just a matter of perspective.
These days, you feel guilty about almost everything: working too much, or too little, or wrongly. For your actions, your emotions, your own personality. But spending the day has been hard enough lately without you being so hard on yourself too. Don’t believe it when your friends say you’re doing your best. Your imagination is active enough because you can always find ways to do more, to do better. But this week, silence that critical voice inside your head. Be kind to yourself.
In such a vast and wonderful universe full of compelling people, places, and ideas, it’s hard to find the need to focus on your relatively quiet inner life, your emotional needs. You prefer to direct your energies outward, and you can be magnanimous beyond measure with your attentions. Just remember, this week, as you treat others with an open mind and curiosity without judging, don’t neglect yourself. It is neither selfish nor selfish to be interested in your own inner world: your thoughts and feelings, your secrets, your wounds. All of this deserves your attention and generosity, too.
Looks like everyone you meet this week wants to tell you what to do. Everyone has an opinion on the right and wrong ways to be, to dream, to change the world. Many of your ideas will be clever and useful, they are worth listening to. But you can’t live all the possibilities or join every good fight. Not in a week, not even in a lifetime. You have to trust yourself to know the right course of action for you. Your own inner compass will not mislead you.
