Australia’s Madison de Rozario has added gold in the T53/54 marathon at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games to her victory at the Tokyo Paralympics last year.
De Rozario was also the defending Commonwealth champion, winning gold at the event on the Gold Coast in 2018.
She won in a Games record 1 hour 56 minutes, comfortably ahead of England’s 20-year-old Eden Rainbow-Cooper (1:59:45).
No bronze medals were awarded because there were only four competitors in the race. De Rozario’s compatriot Christie Dawes finished fourth in a season best of 2:07:02.
De Rozario, 28, also won gold in the T54 1,500m on the Gold Coast four years ago and will be looking to defend that title next week.
More to come.
