Magpies confirm Jordan De Goey’s $ 3.2 million extension “pending” amid Bali video scandal

Collingwood boss Mark Anderson has confirmed that all negotiations to extend his contract with Jordan De Goey are pending.

The Magpies had reportedly prepared a four-year offer to keep the superstar midfielder forward at the club, who was said to be worth $ 3.2 million.

But this has been achieved as a result of the appearance of videos showing De Goey partying in Bali during his mid-season vacation and pulling down a woman.

On Tuesday, Anderson announced a $ 25,000 suspended fine for the player, who later received support from the AFL. De Goey revealed a diagnosis of ADHD that he says he is trying to manage.

The club’s CEO also confirmed that there will be no negotiations for a contract extension.

“I’m not going to talk about contracts, or specific contracts, I’m not going to do it with any player, and I’m certainly not going to do it with Jordan’s contract,” he said.

“What is clear is that we will enter into discussions with Jordan about his contract later this year.

“Discussions over a contract continue until the end of the year, so we will embark on these discussions at the end of the season with Jordan and his agent.”

De Goey, 26, is considered one of the most talented players in the competition and would have aroused significant interest before this latest incident.

He has previously been embroiled in a series of off-field controversies.

“I’m disappointed to be here. It’s disappointing that we’re back in the same situation,” Anderson told the media.

“Jordan is very disappointed that he has returned to this situation.”

Anderson was asked if De Goey will be selected to play the Magpies against the Giants this Sunday.

Collingwood did not suspend him for any match.

“I can’t answer that question today,” Anderson said.

“What comes after that … Sunday’s priority is not the priority, as we are here this afternoon. I can’t answer that question about whether he plays on Sunday or not.”
