Maguire separates the Wests Tigers

The Wests Tigers have split from coach Michael Maguire.

A board of directors was convened after half a season of indifferent results for the joint venture club. President Lee Hagipantelis was seen arriving at the club’s headquarters in Concord on Tuesday afternoon.

Maguire was told his future was no longer at the club. Brett Kimmorley will take over as interim coach.

Maguire coached on Tuesday morning, then headed to the playgroup after being informed of the club’s decision. He packed his belongings and left the club’s Concord headquarters.

Last month The Herald reported that the Tigers powerbrokers had set a deadline for round 13 to decide on their coach.

The Tigers are 13th in the table with eight points after just three wins this season.

The club determined that 10 points in half was the number needed to have a realistic chance of returning to the final for the first time since 2011.

The news comes on the same day that the Warriors announced the departure of coach Nathan Brown.
