A collision between a large truck load and the overpass of Cambie Road in Richmond, BC, caused major traffic disruptions on Wednesday.
Images of the scene showed a semi-truck with what appears to be a piece of drilling rig with caterpillar-like tank on its trailer that crashed into the overpass.

The drilling vehicle was pulled from the truck trailer and fell into the front of a pickup truck. It was not immediately known whether the driver of the van was injured.

Both the westbound lanes on the overpass and the southbound lanes on Highway 99 in the area are closed. The Richmond RCMP said the closure would last “an unknown amount of time while engineers are assessing the damage.”

DriveBC listed the affected area between Bridgeport Road and Cambie Road. Northbound traffic on Highway 99 was unaffected.
Southbound drivers were asked to turn off the exits from Highway 4 or Shell Highway.
A similar collision between a truck and the overpass at 152nd Highway 99 in Surrey in 2017 caused major traffic disruptions for more than three months.
