A man has been arrested in Belfast on suspicion of having sexual activity with a child.
The 25-year-old suspect was arrested on Tuesday by officers from the PSNI’s Child Sexual Exploitation Team.
He remains in custody and is assisting detectives with their enquiries.
PSNI Detective Inspector Hamill said: “Safeguarding vulnerable young people is a top priority for the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
“We will continue to educate people about how to spot the signs of child sexual exploitation and work with our social service partners to ensure we take swift action when we believe a child is at risk.”
Anyone concerned that a child may be at risk of sexual exploitation or abuse should contact the police on 101.
