A man has been seriously injured after a “violent physical attack” outside a Greenock nightclub.
The 20-year-old was assaulted at around 2.55am on Sunday in front of Word Up on Dalrymple Street.
He was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital for treatment for serious injuries.
Officers are checking CCTV in the area.
Detectives are asking the public for information and have described a single suspect as a man in his 20s, wearing a dark sweater, light pants and white slippers.
They said they are especially interested in talking to taxi drivers and those who were at the club.
CID Detective Inspector Nikki Wake said: “The man suffered a violent physical attack, which caused him to be treated for serious injuries at the hospital.
“Our investigation into the assault is ongoing and we are conducting a CCTV review.
“The suspect is described as in his early 20s, wearing a dark sweater, light pants and white slippers.
“We look forward to talking to anyone who has been in the area around the time of this incident to contact us. He especially calls on taxi drivers or those who attended the club to show up if you go. witness the aggression.
