“World class number”
Manchester United fans should be disappointed by the signing of Christian Eriksen, according to Liverpool hero Danny Murphy.
Murphy told talkSPORT, “World-class? Eriksen? No. No, no, no, no. It’s a welcome addition to any team because it has experience and quality.
“But when you look at the big games when United play against Liverpool, [Manchester] City and Chelsea, will he play this first XI? No, that’s the answer.
“I could change a game, yes, it’s fair. I could get off the bench and change a game, but will it bring United closer to Liverpool and City? It doesn’t come close.
“This is Man Utd. Is that better? [Bruno] Fernandes? No. Will he play in the first eleven? No.
“Is he a welcome addition and a good player in the squad? Yes. Should I be happy as a United fan? No. Would I be thrilled as a United fan? I would be a little disappointed.”
