Manchester United have not stopped signing Jurrien Timber, although Ajax are asking for a fee of £ 36 million to let the 20-year-old go.
Erik ten Hag is already doing business as the new head of United and is returning to his former side as he seeks reinforcements. The Dutchman is already aiming for his old midfielder Frenkie De Jong, and hopes to attack Ajax for Timber.
But Ajax have charged Timber a high price amid constant interest from United, though that has not deterred them. But his problem may be that the defender is inclined to stay at Ajax, according to De Telegraaf.

On Wednesday, Timber hinted that he could continue his development away from Ajax, which piqued the interest of many United fans. However, he did explain that it had to be the “right pass” for him to consider it.
And under Ten Hag, there is no reason why the Dutchman does not know him well. But De Telegraarf has reported that Ajax sources confirm that “they are receiving more and more signals” that Timber wants to stay in the Netherlands.
The report states that this could have been influenced by the new manager Alfred Schreuder, and the possibility of reaching a new agreement could have convinced him to stay. Ajax wants to meet soon with its agents to talk about extending their agreement and also about increasing their salaries.

The Dutchman’s contract currently expires in 2024, but Ajax may try to extend it even further, which could also increase its price. That has already been set at £ 36 million, which is “considerable” for United.
Timber wants to have a safe playing time, especially with a World Cup at the end of the year. And the 20-year-old has already landed a starting role at Ajax.
United may be looking to sell Eric Bailly this summer, but with Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane at the club. The wood is not guaranteed to start. These are one of the “main factors” that prevent the agreement from progressing.

To add to the combination, Ajax are keen to sign Timber’s brother, who currently plays for FC Utrecht, which means he could be linked with the Dutch champions. There is a lot of work to be done for Ten Hag, and this possible blow will not help.
And United’s defense is an area that needs urgent attention, after last season’s worst Premier League final. They also finished the season without a positive goal difference, something unheard of for the Red Devils.
Ten Hag also needs midfield options as it seeks to complete a full staff review. And Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic have left this summer.
