A man has been arrested in Kent on suspicion of murder after a child died north of Manchester.
Detectives began an investigation into the murder after a mother and son were stabbed at a Miles Platting home around 9:30 p.m. Thursday.
Paramedics had treated the boy at the scene, but he was taken to hospital, where he died about an hour later.
Her mother, a 40-year-old woman, was also treated at home for serious stab wounds and taken to hospital where she is in stable condition.
Specially trained agents support the mother and her family.
A 44-year-old Manchester man was arrested in Kent on Friday on suspicion of murder. He is believed to be known to the victims.

“Shaking community”
Detective Chief Inspector Alicia Smith of GMP’s Major Incidents Team said: “Last night’s attack left a community faltering and a family accepting what was an incident. absolutely devastating for everyone involved.
“A teenager who had his whole life ahead of him has tragically lost his life and his mother is not only saddened by the loss of her son, but she is also recovering from what would no doubt have been very traumatic.” .
Police continue to demand that the witnesses appear.
