Manchester United are reportedly monitoring the situation of Chelsea player Mason Mount, a target for Liverpool and Manchester City.
According to The Sun, Manchester United have joined Liverpool and Manchester City in the list of Premier League clubs that control Mason Mount’s situation at Chelsea. Mount’s contract talks with the Blues have faded into the background with the arrival of new owners, which has given interested clubs the opportunity to make inquiries.
Erik ten Hag has been monitoring Mount’s progress since the English international’s loan with Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem. The new Manchester United coach is aware of the situation of the game creator at Chelsea, and reports state that the Red Devils have already shown interest in the player’s environment.
Mount’s contract with Chelsea is just over two years old, with talks of a renewal that have been halted due to the acquisition of the consortium led by Todd Boehly as club owners. The 23-year-old is currently one of the club’s lowest players, earning just £ 88,000 a week.
He has been one of Chelsea’s most important players in recent seasons. Since being promoted to Chelsea’s first team in the 2019/20 season, Mount has been a mainstay in his starting eleven, with a total of 160 appearances. He has also scored 36 goals and given 31 assists between competitions.

The recently ended season was his best in terms of performances. Mount scored 11 goals and attended the Premier League ten times, helping Chelsea finish third in the league table. With these numbers supporting him, it is essential that Chelsea tie the English international to a longer agreement.
It is also believed that Manchester City and Liverpool have shown interest in the game’s creator, while Barcelona are also watching him. Therefore, Manchester United will have to fight some of the biggest clubs in Europe for the signing of Mount, if the 23-year-old decides to leave the club from his childhood.

Recent comments from the player indicate that he is not too worried about the status of the contract and that he is focused on next season. But with greats like Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United in their pursuit, Mount and Chelsea’s determination will face a test back in the summer transfer window.
