Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Manchester United’s pre-season 4-0 win over Liverpool on Tuesday “doesn’t matter”.
Erik ten Hag got off to a perfect start as United coach, with the Red Devils advancing 3-0 in the half thanks to goals from Jadon Sancho, Fred and Anthony Martial, before Facundo Pellistri gave more shine to the scoreboard after the break. .
However, speaking on talkSPORT with Laura Woods and Ally McCoist on Wednesday morning, Agbonlahor insisted that United fans should not get ahead, and made a blatant joke that the Ten Hag team should expect a time before Liverpool win again.

“People talking about last night’s game and some Man United fans are getting excited, but preseason doesn’t matter,” he said.
“Honestly, the players are in different stages physically, playing in Thailand, the weather, the humidity, it will be difficult to play there.
“So the preseason is about your fitness, right? It’s not about results at all. So I wouldn’t look at last night, and it could probably be the last time Man United beat Liverpool until the next preseason!
There were a number of positives for the 13-time Premier League champions, with Sancho and Martial shining brightly and carrying their goals well, while Fred produced the moment of the match when his delicate chip beat Alisson.

Youngsters Charlie Savage and Zidane Iqbal also impressed from the bench in the second half, staying in the middle of the park in front of Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara in the final stages of the match, when Jurgen Klopp addressed his great players.
It was certainly a step in the right direction for United after their terrible 2021-22 campaign, but Agbonlahor may have a point as he worries about his recent record against Liverpool in competitive matches.
They haven’t beaten Klopp’s team in the league since March 2018 and lost 9-0 overall in their top two games with the Reds last season.
United will have a chance to prove Agbonlahor wrong when they host Liverpool at Old Trafford next month.
