Manchester United star Mason Greenwood has extended his police bail on charges of raping and assaulting a young woman earlier this year.
Greater Manchester (GMP) police requested that his bail be extended to magistrates in Manchester and Salford, where he was granted.
The 20-year-old footballer was arrested in January after images and videos were posted online.
He was later also questioned on suspicion of making threats to kill while spending three nights in the cells of a Greater Manchester police station.
Greenwood was released on parole. It first lasted until mid-June and has now been extended.
However, police did not specify when it will run out after yesterday’s closing hearing.
Mason Greenwood, 20, was arrested in January after posting a set of images and videos online. His bail has now been extended to an unspecified date as investigations continue
A GMP spokesman said: “As the outcome of the bail reviews does not affect the progress of the investigations, Greater Manchester police will not offer further updates in relation to this case until the suspect is charged or released without any other action “.
Rumors circulating recently on social media suggested that instead of being charged, the striker may not face any other police action.
However, police investigation is still ongoing and Greenwood remains suspended by the Old Trafford club.
Police arrested Greenwood on Jan. 30 after seeing a woman reporting allegations of physical violence and sexual threats on social media.
Officers had arrived at the 14,000-pound Greenwood mansion a month in Bowdon, Greater Manchester, and were then seen questioning neighbors.
The Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court have today extended Greenwood’s police bail
The English international was originally arrested on suspicion of raping and attacking a woman when detectives assaulted her.
While in custody, he was re-arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill his alleged victim before being released on bail.
Greenwood, a product of the academy originally from Bradford, West Yorks, later tightened security at his home.
He brought two private security guards to patrol the rented house and an expert installed a home CCTV system capable of recording from up to eight cameras.
The footballer was suspended from playing or training with Man United until further notice.

Greenwood was first seen in public since his arrest in early April, driving a black Mercedes through Cheshire while wearing a Cartier balaclava.
He made his only appearance on his England debut against Iceland in September 2020, but was later sent home for breaching Covid’s guidelines.
Greenwood, who has scored 22 goals in 83 games for United, has not played in his home country since.
His last appearance with the club was in a 1-0 win over West Ham on 22 January.
