Manitoba Prime Minister Heather Stefanson hints at a minimum wage increase.
At a meeting of Western prime ministers in Regina, Stefanson says Manitoba has lagged behind other provinces and will take steps to address it.
Stefanson did not go into details, but his progressive-conservative government has notified a bill on the minimum wage to be presented to the legislature as early as Monday.
Saskatchewan recently announced a fall in its minimum wage for the fall, leaving Manitoba with the lowest minimum wage in the country.
Manitoba is currently raising its minimum wage each year in line with inflation and is currently projected to increase it to $ 12.35 an hour in October.
Saskatchewan is raising its low to $ 13 an hour this fall and $ 15 in 2024.
