Martin Lewis rejected the nobility for the second time

Martin Lewis has been turned down for his second term, but the consumer advocate has pledged to apply again.

In 2018 it was reported that the founder and chairman of the MoneySavingExpert.com website was ignored by the House of Lords Appointments Committee (Holac).

Lewis revealed that a recent application had now also been rejected, alleging that the limited hours in which he could sit acted as a “stumbling block”.

“I am very busy with my job, but the most important thing is that I have a nine-year-old daughter and until the age of 13, my most important job from 6.30pm to 8pm is to be with her and put her to bed. “Mr Lewis said.

“I see that my role is to learn for three or five years, with limited contributions and then gradually over the next five or ten years, devoting more time to the House of Lords.”

Anyone who wants to become a parent can introduce themselves or be nominated by another person or organization. They must meet criteria that include a record of “significant achievement” and a willingness to “commit the necessary time.”

“He breathed a sigh of relief”

Speaking on the BBC’s Political Thinking podcast, Lewis admitted that he “breathed a sigh of relief because there is so much pressure right now and I thought maybe a couple of years would make more sense”.

Lewis, who has been very critical of the government during the cost-of-living crisis but praised Rishi Sunak’s recent support package, added that he would sit down as an equal banker and swore by a “paradox of neutrality”.
