NEW HAMPSHIRE (WABC) – Several passengers had to be rescued after a massive fire broke out on a boat on a New Hampshire River on Saturday.
The incident happened shortly after 4pm when New Hampshire State Police received a call about a burning boat on the Piscataqua River near Little Harbor in Newcastle.
The 70-foot ship Elusive was heading for Wentworth Marina when a passenger noticed black smoke under the deck.
Within minutes, the boat was completely filled with smoke, according to passengers.

Police say three passengers, two from Connecticut and one from Florida, as well as two family dogs, jumped overboard when the boat caught fire.
They were rescued by nearby ships and taken ashore. They were then taken to Portsmouth Hospital, where they were treated and discharged.
The ship left port and efforts to save the ship were unsuccessful, according to state police.
Within two hours of the initial call, the ship sank in Maine waters.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
