Interior Health warns drug users in Vernon and Kelowna after benzodiazepines have appeared in multiple tests of methamphetamine drug samples.

The health authority issued a community drug warning on Friday. Naloxone will not reverse the effects of benzos.

According to IH, drugs can cause drowsiness, memory loss, impaired thinking, safety / sobriety delusions, risky behaviors, and fainting.

The drug samples in question have been sold as “covers,” containing benzo and methamphetamine, and appear as colorless crystals.

The alert will be valid until June 8.

The health authority said it recommends that people who use substances should be checked, used around other people or in an overdose prevention site and started with a small amount.
