Microsoft confirms that Xbox drivers are scarce

Microsoft has confirmed a shortage of Xbox drivers in the UK as major retailers have sold out.

As reported by VGC, the official Microsoft store currently has no drivers available in any color, while retailers GAME, Smyths, Argos and Currys have no stock.

Amazon UK has the Carbon Black driver in stock at the time of writing, but third-party prices for a new (unused) driver start at £ 93.99 (the official price is £ 54.99).

“We know it may be difficult to find Xbox wireless drivers right now due to supply disruptions,” a Microsoft spokesman said. “We are working as quickly as possible with our manufacturing and retail partners to improve it. Please check availability with your local retailer.”

The Xbox Design Lab is still receiving orders for custom drivers, including the newly released Pride driver.

The service’s FAQ says, “We intend to have the driver in your hands within 28 days of placing your order.” It is unclear if this is still the case or should it still be updated.

The shortage of stocks has been a major problem for this generation of consoles, so far affecting Xbox, Sony and Nintendo, mainly due to the global shortage of chips.

Meanwhile, Sony could soon introduce a new “professional” PS5 driver.
