Hornets striker and restricted free agent Miles Bridges has been charged with a felony of domestic abuse in Los Angeles County, Steve Reed of The Associated Press tweets.
A press release from the LA County District Attorney’s Office stated that Bridges faces several charges: a felony of injuring the father of a child and two felony counts of child abuse in circumstances or conditions that may cause serious bodily injury or death. The case also includes a complaint of causing serious bodily injury to the victim of domestic violence.
The indictment is scheduled for Wednesday in the LA County Superior Court.
“Domestic violence creates physical, mental and emotional trauma that has a lasting impact on survivors,” prosecutor George Gascón said in a press release. “Children who witness domestic violence are especially vulnerable and the impact on them is immeasurable. Mr Bridges will be responsible for his actions and our Office of Victim Services will support survivors in this difficult process. “
The alleged assault on the victim occurred on June 27 or June 28, depending on the criminal complaint. The case is still under investigation by the LA police department, the statement added.
Bridges was just days away from potentially signing a new massive deal with the Hornets or an offer sheet from a rival team before being arrested. His future in the NBA is now in the air.
