Minecraft content creator and player Technoblade has died after a long battle with stage four cancer, his family announced today in a public statement and video.
Techno previously revealed that he had been diagnosed with cancer last August and that he had been sporadically updating his community about his situation as he continued to receive treatment and create content on YouTube.
In the video, released June 30, Techno’s father narrated a final posthumous message titled “So Long Nerds,” written for the occasion. It was filled to the brim with the creator’s dry, often dark humor signature, but it also acts as the final “thank you” to everyone who supported the Minecraft star over the years.
“Thank you all for supporting my content over the years. If I had 100 more lives, I think I would choose to be Technoblade again and again. Because those were the happiest years of my life,” Techno said.
“I hope you enjoyed my content and made some of you laugh. I hope you all continue to live long, prosperous and happy lives because I love you guys. Technoblade out.”
In his message, Techno, who reveals that his name is actually Alex, talks about how commodity money and other “selling” pressures over the past year are being used to send his brothers to college. , if they want to go there. thanking his viewers for giving him such happy moments, all the while showing a slide show of images showing him at various points in his treatment.
After Techno’s final message, his father details how he initially planned to write and record the video himself before he died, but his deteriorating health and other factors prevented it from happening. According to his father, he wrote the message from bed and died about eight hours later.
“He was the most amazing kid anyone could ask for,” Technoblade’s father said. “I miss Technoblade. Thank you all, for everything. You meant a lot to him.”
The Technoblade family will continue to operate their merchandise store, and all proceeds from the orders will be donated to their favorite charity, The Sarcoma Foundation of America, as they want to “continue to spread their message.” This includes, in the most Techoblade way ever, the launch of a “so long nerds” collection celebrating his life.
