Twenty-five-year-old missing indigenous woman Kwem Manuel-Gottfriedson has been found dead in the central east.

Manuel-Gottfriedson’s body was found July 30 inside a building near East Hastings Street and Hawks Avenue, three days after her family was reported missing and two days after the missing person poster.
Vancouver police confirmed to the media on Tuesday that his death was being investigated by the VPD’s Major Crimes Section. This was later confirmed by Manuel-Gottfriedson’s family, who said she was from Merritt, was not homeless, did not frequent the Downtown Eastside and was well-loved.
The BC Forensic Service is also investigating.
According to the missing persons poster, Manuel-Gottfriedson is 5’4″ with brown eyes and hair, bangs and was last located via her phone in Vancouver’s West End and near the Astoria Hotel in downtown from Eastside.

Manuel-Gottfriedson’s body was found a block east of the Heatley Block Hotel where 14-year-old Noelle O-Soup and another woman’s body were found in May. A man’s body was also found in the same room two months earlier.
Meanwhile, Vancouver police are searching for 20-year-old Indigenous woman Tatyanna Harrison, who has been missing for almost three months and was last seen at the DTES.
