NASA, associate agency leaders to talk to space station astronauts

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson, Deputy Administrator Pam Melroy, Italian Space Agency (ASI) President Giorgio Saccoccia and leaders of the U.S. Embassy in Rome will speak with astronauts aboard the International Space Station this week. The Director General of ESA (European Space Agency), Josef Aschbacher, will join the event virtually.

The Earth call into space will be broadcast live at 7:40 a.m. EDT on Friday, June 17 on NASA Television, the NASA app and the agency’s website.

NASA astronauts Kjell Lindgren, Bob Hines and Jessica Watkins, as well as ESA astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti, will speak with the group of international leaders about the benefits of the space station for life on Earth, the research they are conducting on board the orbiting laboratory. and plans by NASA and ESA for human exploration on the moon and Mars.
