NASA is officially (publicly) forming a team to investigate unidentified aerial phenomena, also known as UAPs. They will try to discern if a UAP comes from natural occurrences or if they come from other sources.

The study team will be led by astrophysicist David Spergel under the direction of NASA’s Scientific Mission. The mission; to find out the best way to capture and collect data from a UAP. This information could be useful in the future if some are identified as technology sightings.

“NASA can use this data to advance the scientific understanding of UAPs,” according to NASA. The study will be available to the public Thomas Zurbuchen, NASA’s associate administrator for science, he says. This will not be part of the Department of Defense’s working group on unidentified aerial phenomena.

Although there is still a lot of skepticism about whether or not there are aliens, or whether they are responsible for the documented UAPs we know. It is still a possibility. UAPs are separated from UFOs or unidentified flying objects. NASA is also studying them. But with the addition of UAP, more information can be extracted. Space science is extensive and this will help bring them closer to their goal of understanding life outside of Earth.

And, of course, it helps in the search for habitable exoplanets.

We want to believe.
