NASA will choose next-generation space suits for Moonwalking, Spacewalking

NASA will announce at 14:00 EDT (13:00 CDT) on Wednesday, June 1, the company or companies selected to advance the development of the next generation of space suits for the Artemis missions to the Moon and International Space Station during an event at the agency’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.
The ad will be broadcast live on NASA Television, the agency’s website, and the NASA application.
Event participants will include:
- Vanessa Wyche, NASA Johnson Director
- Lindsay Aitchison, executive of the program for extravehicular activity and the human surface mobility program, NASA headquarters
- Lara Kearney, manager of the extra-vehicular activity and human surface mobility program, Johnson Johnson
- Joel Montalbano, Program Director, International Space Station, Johnson Johnson
The media is invited to attend in person and hear comments from key NASA officials involved in the selection, followed by a question and answer session.
U.S. media interested in participating in person should contact Johnson’s newsroom before 6 pm (5 pm CDT) on Friday, May 27, by calling 281-483-5111 or by sending an email to jsccommu@mail.nasa.gov. To participate by phone, the media must contact the newsroom before 6:00 pm (5:00 pm CDT) on Tuesday, May 31st. A copy of NASA’s media accreditation policy is available online.
The new space suits that allow humans to explore the lunar surface and unlock new spacewalk capabilities outside the International Space Station are a key part of advancing human exploration into space and demonstrating continued American leadership. Under Artemis, the new space exploration suits, along with human surface mobility systems, the space launch system rocket, the Orion spacecraft, the ground systems, the walkway, and the human landing systems , will allow NASA to return humans and establish a long-term presence. Moon and finally explore Mars.
