Former NASCAR driver Bobby East, 38, was identified by officials as the person killed Wednesday at a gas station in Orange County.
The Westminster police department identified the suspect as 28-year-old Trent Williams Millsap.

East, a native of San Dimas, raced on the NASCAR, US Auto Club and Automobile Racing Club of America circuits. He was a three-time USAC champion.
East was filling up its depot around 5:45 a.m. Wednesday at Gas Station 76, located at 6322 Westminster Blvd. He reportedly had words with Millsap, a transient known to frequent Westminster, Garden Grove and Anaheim, according to the sergeant. Eddie Esqueda of the Westminster PD.
Millsap allegedly stabbed East in the chest. Officers were sent to the gas station at 5:51 p.m., and East was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Westminster police received information Friday that Millsap was in an apartment on Block 3300 on Lincoln Avenue in Anaheim, WPD Commander Kevin MacCormick said.
A SWAT team was sent to the scene and during the service of a search warrant, an agent involved in the shooting was deployed and Millsap was shot.
He succumbed to his injuries at UC Irvine Medical Center, according to Westminster police.
In addition, a K-9 police officer suffered a non-fatal bullet wound.
The K-9 was taken to a local veterinarian where he received treatment and was then released home.
