A family of four was shot, three dead, and the survivor was able to flee the scene.

He is believed to be a man in his 30s.

He was initially listed in critical condition, but has undergone several emergency surgeries and is now reported as serious but stable.

“He was able to talk to us overnight and provide us with details of what happened yesterday morning,” Armitt said.

“And the detectives will be speaking to him again this morning.”

Police have not yet confirmed a motive for the alleged shooting.

Two men and a woman died at the scene, while the surviving man stumbled into a remote bush with a stomach wound.

He was airlifted to Mackay Base Hospital.

A declaration of emergency was made to include Shannonvale Road, where the shooting took place, before it was revoked on Friday morning.
