A plane with 22 people on board has disappeared in the mountains of Nepal, according to the airline and government officials.
The small plane operated by a private airline in the South Asian country disappeared on Sunday morning.
He had been on a 15-minute scheduled flight from the tourist city of Pokhara to the mountain town of Jomsom and lost contact with the airport tower shortly after takeoff.
Local police said there was no information about the Twin Otter plane, which belonged to Tara Air, and a search is underway.
The 9N-AET plane is said to have lost contact at 9:55 a.m., according to a Tara Air official.
An air traffic controller at Jomsom Airport said they have an unconfirmed report of loud noise in Ghasa Jomsom, according to the Kathmandu Post.
The publication adds that a helicopter has been sent to the areas where the last contact was made, which was at the Lete pass.
The plane was carrying 13 Nepalese, four Indians, two Germans and three crew.
It has been raining in the area for several days, but flights are running normally.
The route the plane took required it to fly between mountains before landing in a valley.
It is a popular route for foreign hikers touring the mountain trails as well as Indian and Nepalese pilgrims visiting the revered Muktinath temple.
