Vecna’s fault.
Netflix’s streaming service was not available for a brief period Friday early in the long-awaited release of the last two episodes of “Stranger Things 4”.
According to global uptime monitoring site Downdetector.com, user reports of problems with Netflix increased around 3 a.m. ET, when volume 2 of “Stranger Things 4” was released. Complaints about bugs with Netflix peaked at nearly 13,000 at the top of the hour, before the situation seemed to be resolved in half an hour.
“Stranger Things 4” has already set the record as the service’s No. 1 series in English in its first four weeks of release, Netflix reports based on total hours viewed. The two episodes of volume 2 of season 4 last almost four hours in total: episode 8 lasts 85 minutes and episode 9 lasts 150 minutes.
Other streaming services have struggled to keep up during extremely high demand. For example, HBO Max was disrupted with the end of Season 2 “Euphoria” earlier this year and with the release of the final episode of the limited series “Mother of Easttown” in May 2021.
“Stranger Things” is created, written and produced by Matt and Ross Duffer, also known as the Duffer Brothers. The supernatural horror thriller features a cast with Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers), David Harbor (Jim Hopper), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair ). ), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield), Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers), Joe Keery (Steve Harrington), Maya Hawke (Robin Buckley), Priah Ferguson (Erica Sinclair) , Brett Gelman (Murray), Cara Buono (Karen Wheeler) and Matthew Modine (Dr. Brenner).
In the early hours of Friday, before Netflix apparently resolved the technical issues, subscribers around the world used social media to express their frustration and share memes with Vecna’s “Stranger Things 4” ultraviolet, after not being able to access at the service.
