Two actors working on a Netflix series have died after the crash of a van with a cast and crew in Mexico.

Raymundo Garduno Cruz and Juan Francisco González Aguilar died in the crash, the Department of Culture of Baja California in Mexico confirmed to the Associated Press.

Six other members of the cast and crew were also injured in the crash.

The crash was not on the set of the show, but happened in traffic from Santa Rosalía to the local airport, Netflix said in a statement to USA TODAY.

The team was in the area filming the series The Chosen One. Based on the Mark Millar and Peter Gross comic book series, the show follows a 12-year-old boy who learns that Jesus Christ has returned and is destined to save humanity.

The production of the series has been temporarily stopped by Redrum, the company that directs the shooting.

A friend of the victims, Juan Francisco González Aguilar, known professionally as “Paco Mufote,” told the Daily Beast she was devastated by the tragedy.
