A beautiful new portrait of Queen Elizabeth II has been published before her long-awaited platinum jubilee.
The snapshot of the milestone, which debuted Wednesday on the royal family’s Twitter page, was taken by Ranald Mackechnie at Windsor Castle’s Victoria Vestibule last week.
“Your Majesty the Queen, the first monarch in British history to celebrate a platinum jubilee,” it read.

The 96-year-old British monarch dropped off his crowns and tiaras for the photo shoot and opted for an undecorated head of snow-white hair that was perfectly puffy.
The queen kept her set as a gift and respectful, wearing a pale blue coat dress applied along the seam, which she combined with her necklace and pearl earrings, and a simple gold watch on her wrist.
Sitting at an angle with her ankles crossed and her hands folded in her lap, her diamond engagement ring from her late husband, Prince Philip, was in front and in the center.
Although the background was artistically blurred to highlight the royal theme of the image, the round tower of the castle and the statue of King Charles II could be seen looking out the window behind it.
