As of Wednesday, June 1, 2022, CREA is updating the features of the MLS® Home Price Index (HPI) tool.

What is changing?

CREA is changing the MLS® HPI methodology and using data collected from the previous five-year period to stay in line with modern housing trends.

The new method helps ensure that reference prices reflect those of the current housing stock. All reference price data will be recalculated based on the most up-to-date attribute set to draw a clearer picture of individual Canadian housing markets.

The result is an improved “apple to apple” comparison applied evenly to all data.
