(Pocket-lint) – Nothing does conventional commands on the phone Nothing (1) and is basically taking the same approach used for the OnePlus One, using a waiting and invitation list system. It’s no surprise, as it seems to come from Carl Pei’s playbook.
The public waiting list for Nothing (1) is now open for you to add to this list. At the time of writing this list there are about 14,000 people. There is also a private list that will already receive invitations.
The way it works is this: sign up for the waiting list and at some point we’ll send you an invitation. This invitation gives you access so you can basically book a phone.
This part of the process will ask you for a non-refundable £ 20 deposit, which includes the final cost of the phone, which will not be announced until the day of release. On launch day, July 12, you can sign in and complete your order by paying your device balance.
There is also a £ 20 pre-order credit bonus for accessories or the Nothing Ear (1).
Then, it is promised that you will get the phone before the general launch, although we still do not know exactly when it may be, and it seems that Nothing will closely monitor the existence and demands as we saw with OnePlus in the early days. .
There are a few ways to get on the waiting list: If you recommend friends and they use this referral link, you’ll get on the list. Again, it’s a bit of a hype creation measure to encourage people to spread the word.
The elephant in the room here is basically asking you to make a deposit on a device when, firstly, you don’t know the final price and secondly, you don’t have the full specifications.
So there’s a bit of a risk: you might end up getting your hands on the hottest phone of 2022, the phone everyone’s talking about, or you could end up with a lemon and make yourself want to have a Samsung like everyone else.
