Nothing Phone will have a mid-range Snapdragon processor

As the countdown clock for the launch of Nothing Phone 1 progresses, more details are emerging about the phone. Last year, founder Carl Pei revealed that the startup has partnered with Qualcomm to use its chips in Nothing products. Since the new phone will run on an Android system, it was rumored that Nothing Phone 1 could run on Snapdragon’s latest flagship processor, such as the Jan. 8, however, according to an Input Mag report, the phone will use the 778G + mid-range. Snapdragon chip.

Specially customized for Nothing, the processor includes the added features of wireless charging and reverse wireless charging, differentiating it from the standard 778G chip. Input Mag confirmed the news with Pei, who explained that this chip is more energy efficient and will not sacrifice performance. Users should be able to expect longer battery life and cost and energy savings.

Nothing Phone 1 will be launched on July 12 in the UK and some European markets. The smartphone will run on its own Nothing OS operating system and features a translucent exterior with a dual rear camera. In early June, the company announced the device’s Glyph interface, where “lights are synchronized to blink with unique patterns to each custom sound.” With Glyph, users won’t have to look at their phone screens to see who’s calling or to check their phone’s battery status.

With the support of Google, Nothing has its eyes set on competing with Apple and Samsung in the world of mobile telephony. Will the choice of chip affect its ability to undermine its rivals in price and performance? That remains to be seen. Tune in to the launch event on July 12 at 16:00 BST / 11: 00 ET / 8: 00 PT.
