Hello and welcome to Wimbledon coverage on the most important day of Cameron Norrie’s career to date.
The British No. 1 is one win away from reaching the home Grand Slam final. The person who gets in his way: defending champion Novak Djokovic. Norrie and Djokovic have only played once before, in the ATP Finals last November, where the Serb only lost three games.
“It’s going to be tough against Novak, obviously, but I’m looking forward to the challenge,” Norrie said. “I think I’ll take him. I think the last time I played him in Turin in another big tournament, he played really well and I think I’ve learned a lot from him. I think I’ll get closer to him. Tactically a little different.”
Djokovic is currently in an incredible streak on the center court with 37 straight wins, the longest in tournament history. He hasn’t lost there since Andy Murray beat him in the 2013 final; his other two defeats since then were on track 1. Djokovic’s streak is also longer than any of Rafael Nadal’s streak of victories over Phillipe Chatrier at the French Open.
“We played indoors … we only had one encounter,” Djokovic said. “Of course, different conditions, tournament (and) different environment than what would be played here at Wimbledon on the central court, semifinals of a slam in his country. I know what to expect … in terms of public support.
“Again, for him, there’s not much to lose. Every win from now on is a big problem for him. I know. But I’ve practiced a few times. I know his game well. It’s been. It’s Of course I will do my homework.
