There have been reports of “tension” between China’s two main leaders, President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang, over the focus of the economy and its growth, says Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood.

It comes as U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has declared China a threat to world order and warned the Communist nation that it will join allies in competing against the US economy. China.

Greenwood said the timing of the speech was significant given China’s internal state.

“In recent days, it has been Le Keqiang who is the prime minister of China … who has given speeches on the fall of China’s economic growth, and it has certainly not been Xi Jinping,” he said.

“There have been reports on Reuters, in Bloomberg, elsewhere that there is tension between the two Chinese leaders over the focus of the economy and the way it is growing.”
